A Candle In The Crimson Desert

The desert is a dangerous and lonesome place. Between sand-robbers, desert dragons, sandstorms, trickster beasts, and dehydration alone, there are plenty of things that could derail or even thwart your plans of travel and survival. You have to be careful. You have to be smart. You have to be lucky.

But most importantly, you have to work together. Even when it seems like there’s no hope.

Your caravan has deserted you and a few other merchants on the way to the Jasmine City.  You don't have much other than a few items on your person, and the need to work together with your companions. If you don't, you might just not make it out of the desert alive.

A Candle In The Crimson Desert is a rules-light, map-making RPG about survival and working together. You and your fellow players must make decisions that will affect not just yourself, but your group as a whole. 

The game is designed so that you cannot survive on your own. As a team, you must pool your resources and try to help one another as you create and explore the land, as the Storyteller introduces new conflicts and choices that can make the difference between catching a lift on a friendly Golem or sleeping unprotected in the cold desert night.  All the while, your dwindling resources pull you further and further away from sharing, asking you whether or not you can really afford to give another meal to your fellow merchants.

Stats are not based on your abilities, but on your dwindling access to food, security, and energy. Each day, you will make choices that can risk your safety and lower your available dice pool. 

The night offers a small flicker of flame, a brief moment of hope. As you go around and prepare to end the day, each player has the opportunity to nominate the person who was the most reliable, or helpful, earning the Respect of the other characters. And that can let you do some pretty magical things...
